I-League 2nd Division to kick-off coming November

AIFF is finally looking to make changes to the much criticized I-League 2nd Division this season. Reports on their website states that significant changes have been made to the tournament this year all of which was decided in the concluded  Emergency committee meeting held on May 27, 2013.

Clubs interested to participate in the 2^nd Division League for 2013-14 season need to submit their Applications through their respective State Associations latest by July 15, 2013.
All participating clubs would be required to fulfill the AFC Club Licensing Criteria just like their counterparts in top tier I-League.


It will be interesting to see if I-League 2nd Division format is changed to traditional Home/Away style instead of cup like one which is currently followed by AIFF.

AFC to Inspect New Entrants

The five-man delegation led by AFC Research and Support Services Head Steve Kim will inspect two newly promoted clubs in the I-League -- Mumbai Tigers and JSW -- and their stadiums.

The delegation will also verify the previous inspection results with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and I-League and hold a workshop on July 12 for all clubs touching on football aspects such as match operation in competitions and media, branding, stadium safety and youth development in clubs.

A meeting with officials of the AIFF and I-League will conclude the visit on July 13.

Sporting Club De Goa start Pre-season

Oscar Bruzon & Co kicked-off their preseason training at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Tuesday(July 9th, 2013).

Innovative training methods were on display as Spanish Head Coach Oscar Bruzon used Tennis balls to improve technique and Rugby balls for quick reactions.


Oscar, who attended renowned Dutch fitness Instructor Raymond Verheijen’s Conditioning Camp this February, continued with the Periodisation of his players.


Meanwhile, new Physiotherapist Brian D’Costa joined the squad and will be working with Physio Abhinandan Chaterjee in the backroom staff.

AIFF Announce 30 Member Probables for Tajikistan Friendly

AIFF today has released a 30 member probables for the upcoming Tajikistan Friendly and the SAFF 2013 Championship in Nepal.

The list includes as many a five debutants namely Karma Tsewang(Salgaocar FC), Sandesh(United Sikkim), Dawson Fernandes (SC Goa), Mama & Mohammed Rafique(Both United SC).

Wim also decided to recall talented winger Dika back to squad after leaving him out of the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers in Myanmar.

Wim however will be criticized for persisting with players like Raju & Jewel both of whom have failed to impress in concluded season of I-League.
